About CluedIn

CluedIn is a word guessing game designed to challenge your mind and expand your vocabulary. This page tells the story of where the game came from, what we are trying to build, and how we keep it free and safe for everyone who plays.

Our Story

CluedIn was born from a frustration with one-shape-fits-all daily word games. The dominant format — type a fixed-length word, get colored letter feedback, refine — is elegant, but it rewards memorization of starter words and a narrow vocabulary range. We wanted a daily puzzle that felt closer to solving a riddle: something where reading carefully mattered more than typing the right opener.

The first prototype of CluedIn was built around a single mechanic — progressive clues that get more specific with each wrong guess — and a single rule: every puzzle must be solvable through reasoning, not lucky letter guessing. Those constraints turned out to be enough to support an entire game. From there we added a daily puzzle, a growing official catalog, community-created content, leaderboards, and a badge system to reward long-term play.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple: make daily word puzzles more thoughtful, more rewarding, and more inclusive. Every puzzle is free. Every player — anonymous or signed in — counts on the leaderboard. Every official puzzle is hand-edited so the clue order genuinely builds toward the answer rather than padding the game with filler. And every community puzzle is moderated before it appears publicly so the catalogue stays appropriate for a 16+ audience.

How We Keep It Free and Safe

CluedIn is funded by display advertising. We do not sell personal data, we do not run intrusive tracking beyond the ad network, and we never charge for puzzles. There are no in-app purchases, no premium tiers, no wagering, no gambling, no real-money prizes, and nothing to download — the entire experience runs in a standard web browser on any modern device.

For families, schools, and casual players, this means CluedIn is safe to recommend without conditions. For us, it means we have to keep the game good enough that people come back tomorrow on their own.

Our Community

Thousands of players play CluedIn every day. A growing share of them create and publish their own puzzles for the community library, and the best community puzzles regularly out-perform the official catalogue. If you want to contribute, sign up for a free account, draft a puzzle in My Games, test it, and submit it for moderation. We read every submission.

If you have feedback — a bug, a clue that feels unfair, a feature you wish existed — the in-game feedback button reaches the team directly. We do not always answer individually, but every message is read.
